mediaRelic is a collection tracker built for home-theater enthusiasts. It catalogs your physical media — 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, VHS, Laserdisc — alongside your digital titles, then enriches every disc with movie data: posters, cast & crew, trailers, overviews, genres, age ratings, and audio/video format details.

Beyond a simple list, mediaRelic adds collector tools you will not find elsewhere: a 3D shelf view, eBay value reports, filming-location maps, surround-sound demos, a movie trivia game built from your own library, and a second-screen companion for Plex and Jellyfin.

When you sign up, mediaRelic seeds your vault with 15 sample discs so you can explore every feature immediately. These are only added once, on your very first login.

3. 3Remove the samples whenever you like, then start adding your own collection.

If you clear your vault, the samples are not added again — the space is yours to fill.

mediaRelic has three roles. Most collectors are on the free Collector tier or the one-time Premium unlock.

Premium is a one-time $39.95 unlock. Your collection is kept forever, and the upcoming Windows offline app is included. An optional $24.95/year "updates" plan keeps fresh movie data and new-release info flowing — letting it lapse never removes anything from your library.

The left sidebar groups everything into three areas:

• Collection — Vault, Wishlist, Media Room, and New Releases.
• Premium — Cast Explorer, Trivia, SurroundMe, and Media Servers.
• Library — Import, Export, and Reports.

Collapse the sidebar with the chevron at the bottom to give your collection more room. On phones, tap the menu icon in the top bar to open the navigation drawer.

The fastest way to add a single title is from the Vault. Click Add Disc, search by title, and pick the movie or show.

3. 3Pick an edition if mediaRelic knows of any (this pre-fills format, packaging, and cover art).
4. 4Adjust the format, HDR, audio, and any notes, then Add to Vault.

If no known editions exist for that title and year, mediaRelic skips straight to the entry form so you are never stuck.

Many movies ship in several editions — standard, steelbook, 4K, anniversary cuts. When mediaRelic recognizes a title, it offers a list of known editions drawn from its shared catalog.

Choosing an edition pre-fills the format, marks steelbooks, names the edition, and selects the matching cover art so your entry is accurate in one click.

The Scan page turns your camera into a barcode reader to answer the question collectors ask in the store: "Do I already own this?"

3. 3mediaRelic checks your vault first, then its catalog and lookup services.

Each scan returns a clear status:

• Owned — the barcode matches a disc you already have.
• Owned (title match) — you own this title in another edition.
• Not owned — found in the catalog; add it straight to your vault or wishlist.
• Unknown — not in the catalog yet; you can still add it manually.

The Wishlist tracks titles you want but do not own yet. Add items from search results, the Scan page, New Releases, or the Cast Explorer.

Each wishlist entry includes shop and price-lookup links for Amazon, eBay, Target, and Walmart, plus actor discovery so you can explore an actor’s filmography and flag more titles to chase.

mediaRelic captures the technical details that matter to a home-theater shelf. Set these when adding or editing a disc:

These feed the Quality Breakdown report and the automatic quality tiers described under Managing Your Collection.

Select any disc and open Edit Details to change its format, HDR and audio, edition name, packaging flags, personal notes, and custom data fields. Changes save back to your vault immediately.

Need to update many discs at once — for example tagging a batch of new arrivals or correcting a format? Use Mass Edit to apply the same change across a selection of discs in a single action, instead of opening each one.

Every disc shows its cover. To change it, open Edit Cover. mediaRelic keeps the disc title ready — click Search to see matching covers from its catalog gallery and from TMDb poster art.

Front covers are used throughout the app; back-cover scans, where available, appear in the full-size poster lightbox.

When importing in bulk, mediaRelic compares each incoming title and format against what you already own. Duplicates are flagged with an "Already in vault" badge and de-selected by default, so you only add what is new.

You can still intentionally add a second copy of a disc when you own duplicates.

mediaRelic automatically grades the best discs in your collection based on their format and audio:

• REF (Reference) — a 4K disc with TrueHD or Dolby Atmos. Shown with a purple badge.
• PREM (Premium) — a 4K disc with HDR and lossless audio. Shown with a blue badge.

These tiers are calculated on the fly from each disc’s details — nothing to set manually. They also appear as a breakdown in the Quality report.

Switch between a poster Grid and a detailed List view from the toolbar. The list view shows format, year, rating, and other columns at a glance.

List columns are fully resizable — drag the edge of any column header. Your widths are remembered between visits.

Sort your vault by Title (A–Z), Date Added, Year, or Rating. The chosen sort persists as you search and filter, so your view stays consistent.

Combine sorting with search and filters to quickly find a single disc or narrow to a format.

Click any disc to open its detail panel. It gathers everything about that title in one place:

• Poster, title, year, runtime, genres, age rating, and overview.
• Top cast with one-click actor discovery and filmography.
• A trailer button, plus Favorite and Watch Later toggles.
• Shop / Price Lookup links for Amazon, eBay, Target, and Walmart.
• Edit Details, Edit Cover, and Remove actions.

Drag the panel’s left edge to resize it. Make it wide enough and it switches to a roomy two-column layout; your preferred width is saved.

In a disc’s detail panel, the gold "Known editions" button reveals every edition of that title mediaRelic knows about — steelbooks, anniversary releases, region variants, and more.

Editions you already own are marked, so it doubles as a checklist for completists hunting a specific release.

The Media Room displays your physical discs as spines on a shelf, just like the real thing. Hover a spine to expand it and read the title; the shelf wraps to a new row as your collection grows.

• Group by Format, Decade, Genre, or none.
• Sort by Title, Year, Rating, or Date Added.
• A digital-library panel collects your digital titles with a poster strip.

Select any spine to see a quick info bar with format, HDR, audio, and a jump-to-vault link.

Cast Explorer aggregates every actor across your entire vault into one searchable grid, with appearance counts so you can see who dominates your shelf.

Pick an actor to read their bio and full filmography. Titles you own are badged "In vault," and a heart button adds anything missing to your wishlist.

Open Reports from the Library section to see every available report as a card. All reports use a clean, white, print-ready layout — use your browser’s print or "Save as PDF" to keep a copy or share it.

A complete table of your collection — title, format, HDR, audio, director, year, and packaging flags. Sortable and groupable by format, it is the definitive printout of what you own.

Visual charts that profile your collection: a donut of format distribution and bar charts for HDR types, audio codecs, quality tiers (REF/PREM), special packaging, and release decade.

Estimates what your collection is worth using recent eBay sold prices for each disc, then totals it up. Prices are cached, and a "Fetch missing" button fills in any titles that have not been priced yet.

A world map dotted with the real filming locations of movies in your vault, sourced from public data. Hover a dot for details, or open the location in Google Maps and Google Earth.

Trivia builds a 10-question game from the movies in your own vault — you only get questions about films you actually own.

• 30-second timer per question, with a speed bonus for fast correct answers.
• Scores are saved, and there is a leaderboard with top players and top question contributors.
• You can submit your own questions for review (up to 5 pending at a time).

SurroundMe is an interactive 7.1 surround-sound demo. Each clip plays as separate speaker channels you can mute and unmute individually, so you can hear exactly what each speaker in a surround setup contributes.

It is a fun way to show off a home-theater system and understand object-based audio mixes.

A calendar of upcoming physical-media street dates, with format badges for 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, plus TMDb-enriched poster art. Add anything that catches your eye straight to your wishlist.

BitWatch is a companion screen for movie night. Connect a Plex or Jellyfin server and BitWatch follows what is currently playing.

• Remote play, pause, and stop from your phone or tablet.
• Tabs for cast, your vault info for the film, and trivia.
• A rotating movie-facts overlay during playback.

Save connections to your Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby servers to power Import and BitWatch. You provide a server URL and access token.

A deeper analytics view of your collection with HDR graphs, audio charts, and reference video clips — for collectors who want to study the technical makeup of their shelf.

Already have a digital library on Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin? Import pulls it in and matches each title to movie data automatically.

Export downloads your whole collection as a CSV or TXT file — useful for backups, spreadsheets, or insurance records. The Export page also links straight to the Reports hub for print-ready summaries.

On the Profile page you can set a display name and upload an avatar. Your name and avatar appear in the navigation sidebar.

Open the Premium page (or any "Upgrade" prompt) to unlock all premium features. Premium is a one-time $39.95 purchase that keeps your collection forever and includes the upcoming Windows offline app.

The optional $24.95/year updates plan keeps movie data and new-release information current. If it lapses, nothing is removed from your library — you simply stop receiving new data updates.

Make sure the camera has good light and the barcode is in focus. If a title is not in the catalog yet, you can always add it manually by searching its title.

Yes. TV releases are supported and matched to the correct show data. Add them by searching the title, the same way you add movies.

It does. Use the Digital format for streaming or file-based titles. They appear in your vault and in the Media Room’s digital-library panel.

Movie metadata, cast, and trailers come from TMDb. Pricing comes from eBay sold listings and retailer lookups, and new-release dates come from DVDReleaseDates.com.
